Ultrasonic cleaning uses high-frequency sound waves through a liquid cleaning medium. The process, known as cavitation, forms and collapses countless microscopic bubbles each second. Each bubble’s collapse releases energy that gently cleans surfaces, even in hard-to-reach spots like threads, blind holes, and narrow crevices, without harming the part.

As the cavitation bubbles collapse, the released energy reaches even the most hard-to-access areas, including fine threads, blind holes, and complex internal geometries. This ensures thorough cleaning of surfaces that conventional methods—such as brushing, spraying, or immersion—cannot effectively reach. The result is a uniform, residue-free finish, making ultrasonic cleaning ideal for precision industries such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and medical device manufacturing.

How Ultrasonic Cleaning Works

Ultrasonic cleaning employs high-frequency sound waves (typically in the 20–40 kHz range) transmitted through a liquid medium to generate cavitation.

 
  • A transducer (usually piezoelectric) converts electrical energy into mechanical vibrations.
  • Those vibrations induce compression and rarefaction waves in the cleaning fluid.
  • Millions of micro-bubbles form, expand, and collapse violently—this is cavitation.
  • The collapse of bubbles generates localized jets, micro-shock waves, and shear forces, dislodging contaminants even in hard-to-reach recesses (threads, blind holes, crevices).
  • The cleaning action is effective but non-abrasive, making it safe even for delicate surfaces.
